Position Overview:

As an Emergency Veterinarian at Big Sky Animal Medical Center, you will provide urgent and critical care services to pets in emergency situations. You will be responsible for stabilizing and treating patients, making quick and accurate decisions, and communicating effectively with pet owners and your veterinary team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and treat emergency medical conditions, including trauma, poisoning, acute illness, and surgical emergencies.
  • Provide life-saving interventions such as CPR, fluid resuscitation, and advanced pain management.
  • Collaborate with the veterinary team to provide high-quality care for patients.
  • Communicate clearly and compassionately with pet owners about their pet's condition, treatment options, and prognosis.
  • Work closely with specialty services, including internal medicine, surgery, and imaging when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records for each patient.
  • Provide mentorship and support to technicians and junior staff members.

Qualifications:

  • DVM or VMD degree from an accredited veterinary school.
  • Proven experience in emergency and critical care veterinary medicine, or willing to learn.
  • Strong clinical skills, including diagnostics, emergency surgery, and trauma management.
  • Ability to handle high-pressure situations with professionalism and composure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Compassionate and empathetic approach to animal care and client communication.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required in an emergency setting.
